DAD GUILTY IN SEX ABUSE OF SONS

A 45 year old Mastic man was convicted by a Suffolk County jury after two days of deliberations of sex crimes against his three sons, ages 8, 9 and 10.  The defendant, not identified to protect the identities of the victims, was found guilty of 31 out of 32 charges, which included one count of first degree attempted sodomy, two counts of first degree sexual abuse, two counts of third degree sexual abuse, 23 counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.  This is a case of him sexually abusing, physically abusing the children, Assistant District Attorney Rosamaria Abbate said.  He monitored them, surveillanced them by camera, denied them access to food and basic necessities.  The crimes occurred between December 2001 and April of last year.  The man was arrested after a neighbor noticed injuries on the children and called law enforcement.  The children were placed in foster care and the mother is now seeking full custody of the children.  The defendant is being held at the Suffolk County jail without bail, and an order of protection prohibiting the father from contacting his sons was renewed yesterday.  His sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
