GIRL’S ‘RAPIST’ NAILED (Westchester kidnap case)

Eddie Cordero, Sr., a 46 year old convicted Westchester County pedophile, is once again facing serious sex charges after a grand jury indicted him for the brutal abduction and rape of a 12 year old girl.  He allegedly snatched the girl from a Yonkers bus stop last April 2, then took her to a wooded area in another town, where he raped and sodomized her.  After the alleged attack, he drove her back to the bus stop, where he threatened to kill her if she told what happened.

At the time of the crime, Cordero was a level 2 sex offender who was let out of prison in 1999 after serving three years for sexually abusing a 10 year old girl in Peekskill.  He was supposed to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law, but gave officials a false address.  He faces charges of first degree rape and second degree kidnapping.

Westchester DA Jeanine Pirro used the case to call for the passage of legislation that would expose sex offenders to the threat of civil commitment, meaning the courts could keep them confined indefinitely in a mental hospital after they serve their criminal sentence.
