JUDGE REASSIGNED AFTER COMPLAINT OF SEX OFFENDER LENIENCY

Suffolk County Family Court Judge Andrew Tarantino, a Long Island judge who isthe target of complaints from Parents for Megan's Law and the Crime Victims Center, a victim'sadvocacy group, has been given other duties pending the findings of a state investigation. PFML allege the judge improperly allowed, Dennis DeMille, a convicted sex offender to participatein overnight visitation with his own three children.  The group also took issue with thejudge's courtroom behavior, which they said has been characterized as biased, abusive, sarcasticand outrageous.  They added that he has a reputation as the Cohalan Court Complex Championfor Sex Offender Rights, referring to the courthouse where Suffolk County Family Court is located.State courts spokesman David Bookstaver says Tarantino was reassigned.
