A Queens man is under arrest after being accused of raping a 13-year-old girl he met on Snapchat.

Police officials say 30-year-old Andrew Ramsaroop met the teen at Smith Haven Mall back on May 13.

Detectives say Ramsaroop tried to get the teen and her friend into his car, but they refused.

Later in the day, police say Ramsaroop met the teen at a Hauppauge park and raped her. The park is part of the Renaissance Hills apartment complex.

Suffolk County is teaming up with a Ronkonkoma crime victims advocacy group to launch a pilot program within the Babylon Union Free School District to help students and their families respond to sexual harassment and assault, County Executive Steve Bellone announced Thursday.

The pilot program was announced after school officials received complaints last year about sexual harassment and assault by former and current staff members. The program will be operated by the Crime Victims Center, which provides counseling and support to victims of violent crimes, and will be operational

A West Islip man has been arrested for possessing child pornography, according to authorities.

Police say Nicholas Pedagno, 73, was posing as a younger person on at least eight different social media accounts across seven platforms.

Following a search of his iPad, detectives say his username included lisabutterfly2, love361569 and others.

Neighbors with children were stunned to hear of the accusations.

“I think it’s terrible, it’s not something you want on your block,” says West Islip resident Mike Robertson. “My kids walk home from school down that road every day.”

A driver was arrested after allegedly attempting to rape a teenage girl.

Police say Eudy Mejia is a driver with an unregistered car service.

They say he locked the doors of his car and tried to rape a 13-year-old girl.

Investigators say he stopped the car, asked for a kiss and took her cellphone.

RONKONKOMA – Police have stepped up their monitoring of registered sex offenders to help keep trick-or-treaters safe this Halloween.

Experts say parents should check the sex offender registry for offenders who live in the neighborhood.  Laura Ahearn, of Parents for Megan’s Law, says there are 1,100 registered sex offenders in Suffolk County and 547 in Nassau.

Suffolk Republicans, victim advocates and taxi and limousine companies called Thursday forSuffolk County to block ride-hailing services until the state prevents all registered sex offendersfrom driving for these services.

A bill introduced by Legis. Leslie Kennedy (R-Nesconset) would stop companies such as Uber andLyft from operating in the county because state law allows level-one sex offenders, the lowesttier, to drive for a ride-hailing service seven years after a conviction or completion of a prisonsentence.
