A Rogers, Arkansas mom and home school teacher has admitted to sex abuse of a teen girl.

According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, home school teacher Alisa Andrews, 52, pleaded guilty on Monday at court in Bentonville to sex assault charges.

Andrews admitted she was in a sexual relationship with the teen girl, who was a student of hers.

The victim said Andrews was her biology teacher the semester before their relationship began, but wasn’t her teacher when it started, according to a police affidavit.

The home school teacher received a sentence of four months in jail and 10 years on probation for the sex abuse with the student. Andrews was also ordered to register as a sex offender and has been barred from contacting minors outside of her own children.

The prosecution read a statement from the victim at sentencing Monday.

“I know now that none of this is my fault, and I want you to know that you have no power over me any more,” deputy prosecutor Sara Rhinehart read of the victim impact statement.

“I’m no longer the broken girl I was. You don’t know anything about the person I am today, and you never will. I hope you know I don’t forgive you, and I hope I never do.”

According to a police investigation, the Arkansas home school teacher was engaging in sex abuse of the teen girl over a period of nine months.

Rogers police began investigating two years ago after a concerned pastor reported that a home school teacher was said to be in an inappropriate relationship with a student, an affidavit stated.

Andrews was taken into custody in October 2019.

According to MEAWW, police found evidence indicating abuse — including a handwritten note and several text messages that confirmed the teenager’s account.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the home school teacher had made any additional comments in court about the sex abuse other than her guilty plea.

According to previous reporting from Metro, Andrews also worked as a director in community theater where she mounted an annual production with child actors.
The outlet reported that the woman shared a cryptic post to her social media prior to her arrest, writing “my story is filled with broken pieces, terrible choices, and ugly truths.”

“It is also filled with a major comeback, peace in my soul and a grace that saved my life,” Andrews wrote.
