REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER IN MADISON COUNTY TO SERVE 20 YEARS IN CHILD EXPLOITATION CASE

A Madison County man will serve 20 years in prison after pleading guilty in a child exploitationcase according to the Attorney General's office.

Timothy Flanagan, 40, pleaded guilty to one count of child exploitation on Monday in MadisonCounty Circuit Court. Attorney General Jim Hood's office said Flanagan was arrested in Flora inAugust 2016 by investigators with the AG's cyber crime unit and the Madison County Sheriff'sDepartment.

An investigation revealed he had been downloading child porn, officials said.

?Unfortunately, this is not the first time this man has admitted guilt in handling childpornography,? said General Hood. ?In 2014, Flanagan registered as a sex offender after pleadingguilty to three counts of possession of child porn in Wyoming. This is exactly why the InternetCrimes Against Children Task Force is so important??to be sure individuals like Flanagan are notable to exploit our children.?

According to the Mississippi Sex Offender Registry, Flanagan was convicted of childexploitation/possessing child pornography in Laramie, Wyoming, in October 2014.

Judge John Emfinger sentenced Flanagan to 40 years in prison with 20 to serve. Flanagan wasordered to pay $1,000 to the Mississippi Children?s Trust Fund and another $1,000 to theMississippi Crime Victim Compensation Fund. (Mississippi)
