SEXUAL EXPLOITATION:  THE GRAVEST INFRINGEMENT AGAINST CHILDREN

According to the Asahi News Service, although Asian nations such as Thailand and the Philippines have enacted domestic laws to punish adults who sexually exploit children, the measures cannot eradicate all the problems because many crimes are committed by foreign tourists, ECPAT (End Prostitution, Pornography and Trafficking in Asia) reports.  ECPAT is a coalition of agencies and individuals seeking to prevent the global sexual exploitation of children.  Sexual exploitation of children is a form of slavery and the gravest infringement of a child's rights.  More than 1 million children enter the sex trade each year.
