50 YEARS FOR CONVICTED CHILD MOLESTER

Alex Dayton, a 36 year old man who moved out of his mother's house just two years ago, faces upto 25 years behind bars on a conviction for sexual abuse of a 3 year old boy. Dayton, of 608 LenoxAvenue, East Patchogue, was convicted November 16, his birthday, of sexually assaulting the boy athis job in 2005. Dayton denied abusing the boy. He was convicted of a criminal sexual act, sexualabused and endangering the welfare of a child. The most serious charge of which Dayton wasconvicted, criminal sexual act, is punishable by five to 25 years behind bars. Dayton was sentencedtoday and will serve 50 years in prison. He will serve a maximum of 25 years consecutively for hisconviction on the top two counts of the indictment, criminal sexual act in the first degree, aviolent B felony. He was sentenced to concurrent time for his convictions of second degreeaggravated sexual abuse, first degree sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and petitlarceny.
