Parents for Megan’s Law, a private group, posted New York State’s public list of high-risk sexoffenders and their address, physical description, type of offense, sentence length, aliases andvehicle information on the Internet yesterday. They say the government has lagged in making theinformation easily available to citizens. Laura Ahearn, executive director of Parents for Megan’sLaw said, It’s atrocious. It’s outrageous that our state did not have this information online.Predatory sex offenders…will do anything to get at our kids. Thomas Cusik, 47, a songwriter accused of 33 counts of molesting his adopted children, has committed suicide.  He left behind an audiotape and suicide note in a hotel where he checked in under the name Henry Amoroso.  Cusik had opened his home over the past 20 years to dozens of orphan boys.  A pretrial on charges that he molested seven of his adopted sons was scheduled for Wednesday in which he was scheduled to appear in Bucks County Court.  His trial was to begin April 26th.  Cusik’s body was found

Police arrested two 12 year old boys and charged them with raping a 9 year old girl.  According to the New York Times, the rape took place inside a Manhattan public school, hours after she was coerced into sex in the same spot with an 11 year old boy, who was also arrested.  The incidents took place at James McCune Smith school at 2589 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard near 151st Street in Harlem.  The boys have been charged with rape and sodomy.

A 327 page report by the World Organization Against Torture documents cases of child abuse and torture in more than 30 countries.  The group had documented 2,169 cases but fears the number of young victims was actually in the millions.  The report is entitled, The Hidden Crimes and is based on studies carried out between 1995 and 1998.  Included in the report are kidnapping, rape, forced labor, executions, sexual abuse, beatings, murder, witnessing scenes of extreme violence against their relatives, being denied food and drink, arbitrary arrests and detentions.  In

David M. Kanofsky, 46, of Des Plaines, a daycare worker, was arrested after DCFS alerted policeto a possible sexual abuse case involving a teacher at Horizons Children’s Center. He appeared inCook County Circuit Court on four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and bond was set at$500,000. He has been accused of sexually molesting four little girls in his care. His next courtdate is for a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 28th. He has no prior criminal record.

Some 20 girls aged 13 to 15 had been raped in and around Paris by a serial rapist who posed as a police officer.  Police are hunting the rapist who lured teen-age girls to secluded areas and then attacked them over the past 18 months.  The man usually chooses his victims as they leave school and follows them.  According to the Associated Press, once the victim reaches home, he pretends to be a police officer searching for drugs and would lead the girl into a basement or underground parking area
