Kareem Miller, a 25 year old sex attacker of young East Harlem girls, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after prosecutors argued that no amount of time could ever be sufficient to heal their pain. Miller begged for forgiveness, then was led out to begin serving his sentence. He could have faced up to 25 years in prison if he did not admit his guilt and been convicted at trial of attacking five girls, ages 11 to 16.

According to a massive survey of Minnesota high-school kids, from ninth to 12th grade, an alarming one in 10 girls and almost one in 20 boys have been raped or physically abused on dates. Researchers analyzing the 81,247 responses also found that both male and female victims were much more likely than nonabused young people to report emotional problems. Anthony Vincent, a 23 year old Brooklyn man, was arrested for allegedly having sex with a 16 year old Tennessee girl he met over the Internet. He was charged with statutory rape and sodomy after the girl ran away from home last week and used a bus ticket he allegedly bought her to come to New York and live with him.

Christopher Reardon, a former youth minister and YMCA swim coach, pleaded guilty to raping andmolesting boys in what prosecutors called the biggest child sex-abuse case in Massachusettshistory.
