In a move that will likely shave four years off the convicted sex offender’s prison sentence, former NFL tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. agreed to a plea deal last week in the rape or assault of three women.

Winslow, 37, is now facing a 14-year prison term in exchange for a guilty plea that was submitted on Friday, according to the Associated Press.

In 2019, Winslow was accused of raping or assaulting three women in California, including a 58-year-old unhoused woman, an unconscious teenager, and a hitchhiker.

The measure, known as Senate Bill 52, would amend third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy and second-degree sexual abuse statutes so law enforcement officers could be charged with those crimes if they engage in sexual acts with a person under investigation, in custody or under arrest. A loophole in the current statutes excludes law enforcement officials, according to testimony from a committee hearing on the bill earlier

Colorado lawmakers are once again debating whether to give recent and future victims of child sexual assault unlimited time to sue their abusers after a similar effort failed last year because of infighting among proponents of the policy change.

Senate Bill 73 cleared its first hurdle on Wednesday, unanimously passing the Senate Health and Human Services Committee.

Victims of child sexual assault have just six years after they turn 18 to sue their abusers. The bipartisan legislation would eliminate that restriction. The measure would apply to people

When I lived in the Netherlands from 1992 to 2006, I saw an influx of immigrants into society. In 2000, individuals with a “non-Western migration background” made up 8.9 percent of the Dutch population — about 1 out of every 12 people. Today, about 1 out of every 8 people in the Netherlands now has a non-Western migration background.

Meanwhile, women of a foreign/migrant background make up 52 percent of residents in Dutch women’s shelters.

As someone who gained refugee status in the Netherlands, I
