A Catholic priest who spent years as a pastor and vicar in Rockland County is now facing an allegation of child abuse from decades ago.

Monsignor Edward Weber was one of four priests in the Archdiocese of New York to be placed on administrative leave following such an accusation, according to Catholic New York, a newspaper run by the archdiocese.

A Florida man was arrested after he allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl he met through Snapchat, investigators said.

Austin Altman, 22, drove to pick up the child in nearby Hernando County on Saturday and drove her back to his home in Spring Hill, according to an arrest report from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A former teacher has been arrested and charged with child sex crimes that occurred at a Raleigh elementary school, police said.

Peter Cunningham Moody, of Knightdale faces four counts of felony indecent liberties with a child following incidents at Beaver Dam Elementary School, Raleigh police said.

The offenses occurred between August 2018 and June 2019, court records show. The charges involve two victims.

Moody was hired by Wake County Schools in August 2017. He resigned Aug. 13, 2019, the district confirmed.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California is giving childhood victims of sexual abuse more time to decide whether to file lawsuits, joining several states in expanding the statute of limitations for victims over warnings from school districts that the new rules could bankrupt them.
