TEACH NAILED FOR BOY SEX

PFMLIT General, SEX OFFENDERS AND OTHERS IN POSITIONS OF TRUST, TEACHERS SCHOOL STAFF

Jose Segarra, a 47 year old veteran Manhattan junior high school teacher, sexually abused one of his charges on three occasions, including in a school closet.  Segarra was busted by cops at the Tito Puente School for the Performing Arts on E. 109th Street during class.  The 13 year old male victim told his parents about the molestation and they called police.  Segarra was charged with sodomy and three counts of sexual abuse.  He has been a New York City school teacher for 22 years and at Tito Puente since 1996.  He has been fired from his veteran post at the Tito Puente School.

A Manhattan jury convicted Segarra, of Jackson Heights, Queens, last night of sodomizing the student.  He faces up to seven years of prison when he's sentenced May 9.
