UNNAMED MAN INDICTED BY DNA (Suffolk DA charges suspect in 6 South Shore rapes)
Suffolk County District Attorney James M. Catterson Jr. announced yesterday a 17 count indictment of a serial rapist based solely on his DNA profile. The indictment prevents the statute of limitations from running out on at least one of the six rape cases and allows police and prosecutors to continue pursuing them. The North Amityville Rapist, is believed to have attacked at least six women from 1992 through 1995. Though police don't know his identity, they have the DNA evidence he left behind.
