WOMAN CONFRONTS SUSPECT IN CHILDHOOD RAPE (Police Tape Conversation, Arrest Man)

Richard Harris, 39, was arrested earlier this week after a woman came forward and reported asexual assault that occurred more than 16 years ago when she was 12. Harris, accused of a 1980'srape, may lead police to countless other victims in two states. The woman called the Orange CountySheriff's Office and told them she was raped when she was 12, she said she didn't come forward atthat point because her attacker, who used to live in her neighborhood, moved away. Harris movedback into the neighborhood, so the victim who is now an adult with a family said she decided tocall after her former attacker moved back. He basically made a full confession, with deputieslistening in on a recording device when Harris met the victim and talked about the crime and whathe did to her back then. He was charged with sexual battery with a firearm, kidnapping andpossession of child pornography. Harris is currently being held in the Orange County Jail withoutbond.
