James Anson, a 48 year old Freeport High School teacher, was arraigned Friday on charges he sexually abused a student who had volunteered her time to help him in the computer lab.  Anson, of 848 Helene Street, Wantagh, was arrested and charged with third degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.  He posted bail and was released after his arraignment.  His bail had been set at $1,000 bond or $250 cash.  The alleged sexual abuse took place in the school’s computer lab at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.

G. Neville Rucker, an 82 year old priest wanted for allegedly molesting children, was snatched by authorities from a cruise ship that had been diverted on the high seas to Alaska’s Aleutian Islands Friday at the request of the Los Angeles Police Department.  Prosecutors filed 23 charges of child molestation against Rucker on Friday.  If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to 26 years in prison.

A 12 year old Massapequa girl had been dropped off by a school bus on Forest Avenue around 3:15 p.m. Friday and was near her home when police said two men, one wearing a ski mask, appeared behind her.  She fled the men and barricaded herself in a backyard shed to escape.  They chased her into the shed and she locked it behind her.  The men banged on the door demanding to be let in and she threatened to call the police.  Both men fled the scene before police arrived.

Albert Fentress, a 61 year old former teacher who confessed to killing a teenager and eating some of his body parts must remain in psychiatric care, a judge ruled.  He has been confined to mental hospitals since he was found innocent by reason of insanity in the August 1979 killing of 18-year-old Paul Masters.  He confessed to killing Masters after he wandered into Fentress’ backyard.  He lured him into his basement, tied him to a post, sexually abused and mutilated him and shot him twice in the head before cooking

Three Long Islanders, Robert Bundrick, 20, of 504 John Roe Smith Ave., Patchogue, Kenneth Keating, 24, of 66 Pond Lane, Levittown, and William Krumm, 24, of 1282 Chelsea Rd, Wantagh, thought they were soliciting sex from 13 year old girls over the Internet but got an unpleasant surprise when their dates turned out to be detectives.  Bundrick was charged with attempted endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in prison.  Keating and Krumm were each charged with first degree attempted dissemination of indecent
