WALES BLACKBELT CHAMPION JAILED FOR SEX ASSAULTS

Tae Kwon Do teacher, Anthony Massay, 42, has been jailed for 10 years at Cardiff Crown Court for sex assaults on his pupils.  The former British martial arts champion carried out sex attacks on two schoolgirls over a five year period between 1986 and 1991.  He was found guilty of one charge of rape, eight indecent assaults, three charges of under-age sexual intercourse, three counts of actual bodily harm and one of a serious sexual offence.  He was ordered to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

Approximately 200 people came to hear Laura Ahearn, executive director of Parents for Megan’s Law, talk about the law and the prevention of sex abuse in general.  The meeting was attended by an extraordinary large number of concerned parents and community members.  She explained how children need to be taught to be wary of tricky people who try to manipulate them into inappropriate situations or activities, and described two different types of offenders: the situational type and the seductor.  A true pedophile will actively seek out the child and groom

A HORRIBLE CRIME

Cecil Alves, 20, was convicted of first-degree murder and rape in the death of 16 year old Michelle Donnelly.  Michelle was slain on April 26th, 1998.  Alves was found guilty of the highest charge against him and also of first-degree rape.  The first-degree murder conviction carries a

punishment of life in prison without parole.  Sentencing is scheduled for November 4th.  Donnelly was waiting for Alves’ younger brother at his house.  After he attacked her he buried her body in a shallow grave under a Long Beach bridge.  Police searched for

CORNWALL PEDOPHILE TRIAL DELAYED A YEAR

The trial of Marcel Lalonde, 50, is being delayed.  He is charged with being part of a pedophile ring and abusing seven boys more than 20 years ago.  The complainants are accusing other prominent men of sexual abuse and the connection between the cases is causing the delay.  Lalonde’s lawyer is requesting more information from the police officer who led the case regarding statements the complainants made about the other men charged.
