Verna Session, a 40 year old homeless woman, was charged with kidnapping 2 year old Tyree Hand who disappeared while playing outside his home.  Tyree, of Philadelphia, was playing about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 13 when he disappeared.  Witnesses reported seeing a woman who matched Session’s description holding his hand.  On Monday, police here were called to the Greater Pittsburgh Hotel to investigate a report of a homeless woman and young child sleeping in the lobby.  A social services employee identified the boy from an Amber Alert.

A Los Angeles tow truck driver who took in a stranded motorist and 12 year old girl who was withhim, tipped off police that the girl might have been kidnapped.

Marcelino Benites, 44, was arrested for kidnapping and possible child molestation charges at thetruck driver’s home, where he and the girl had stayed the night before. New York state’s Amber Alert system was activated for the first time on March 7, 2003, at the request of New Jersey police who were looking for a kidnapped girl.  Angel M.
