A successful operation in encrypted chat groups has been carried out by Policia Nacional of Spain. The investigation, begun in 2017 and led by the Central High Tech Crime Unit, has led to search and arrest actions in Spain, Italy and France.
In total there have been 33 investigations launched from Operation Chemosh with 26 of those begun in Spain. Notably the average age of those arrested in Spain is 22 due to many of those investigated being minors. Europol supported the investigation with analytical support, secure exchange

A decorated Navy captain was found guilty of attempting to have sex with a child and will spend thenext eight years behind bars, forfeit all pays and allowances and will be dismissed from theservice once his sentence is finished.

Capt. Alan Damian Dorrbecker, a 27-year submarine warfare officer currently assigned toSubmarine Force Atlantic, was found guilty by military judge, Capt. Robert J. Crow on one of twospecifications of sexual assault of a child as well as four of five counts of sexual abuse of achild.

On Wednesday, Europol released the results of its first joint operation with the FBI againstinternational child predators, announcing the identification of eight child victims and the arrestof 17 individuals for child sexual molestation and production of pornography.  OperationAtlantic has led to the identification of 37 child sex offenders in France, Italy, the Netherlands,Spain and the United Kingdom.  The leads and intelligence gathered by the FBI that formed thebasis of Operation Atlantic helped link suspects in five countries to pedophile groups, includingthe notorious Boylover network.

An Italian children’s-rights association said yesterday that the number of reported pedophilia Web sites shot up by 70 percent in 2003, with the United States accounting for more than half.  The Rome-based non-profit Rainbow Phone said 17,016 Web sites featuring explicit child pornography were reported last year to international and national police groups including the FBI and Interpol.

Gad Lerner, a news director of an Italian state television primary station, resigned and took blame for allowing graphic images of child pornography to air in a prime-time report.  An anchorman and two assistant news directors lost their jobs over the Wednesday night broadcasts where graphic footage of naked children and a video clip of a man apparently having sex with a little girl.  Lerner has admitted he didn’t even know what would be on the news the night of the broadcast and said that he was leaving because he
