SAN ANTONIO – The Texas teen that disappeared after going to the bathroom at an NBA game in Dallas and was later found in an Oklahoma hotel is drawing attention to how children are being lured into sex trafficking.

Helen Browning, care coordinator for ChildSafe in Bexar County, isn’t connected to the teen’s case, but she has handled many cases involving victims in our community.

“We don’t usually see stranger abductions as a way into trafficking. Here in the United States, it’s very, very rare,” Browning said.

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – An Abilene man accused of posing as a teenage girl online allegedly sexually abused a teenage boy he had enticed to meet.

Slade King, 31, was arrested Friday for Sexual Assault of a Child in connection to this incident. He was released from jail after posting a $20,000 bond.

Police say a teen came forward and said King, who was a stranger to him, contacted him on a popular social media application while posing as a teenage girl.

A Texas teacher is accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with a underage former student for nearly three years at middle school near Houston, police said.

Marka Bodine, 31, has been charged with continuous sex abuse of a child under the age of 14, court records show. The alleged abuse occurred while Bodine was a teacher at Tomball Intermediate School, which caters to fifth and sixth grade students.

The victim, now 16, reported Bodine to the Tomball Police Department on April 12.

Three soldiers were arrested last weekend in a child prostitution sting conducted in the Texas town adjacent to the Fort Hood Army post, after they showed up to a location to meet underage girls for sex, police said.

Spc. Anthony Xavier Antwon, 25, and Pfc. Timmy Jones Jr., 30, each face a felony charge of prostitution under the age of 18, the Killeen Police Department said.

Staff Sgt. Pierre Jean, 32, received a Class A misdemeanor charge for prostitution.
