Edward Weisinger, a 45 year old Setauket man, was arrested on charges he possessed childpornography. Weisinger is charged with five felony counts of possessing sexual performance ofa child.

Parents for Megan’s Law is slated to begin monitoring the online activities of NassauCounty’s 550 registered sex offenders early next year, including tracking posts on Facebook andTwitter, and forwarding leads to police. Acting Nassau Police Commissioner Thomas Krumptersaid the Stony Brook-based nonprofit, which focuses on preventing sex abuse crimes and supportingvictims, also would create a smartphone app to allow the public to report possible sex offenderviolations. Laura Ahearn, executive director of Parents for Megan’s Law, said the expandedprogram would boost public safety by helping to maintain an accurate and up-to-date sex offenderregistry. Ahearn said her group also will create a telephone hotline for people withquestions about Megan’s Law and for victims to report allegations; refer sexual abuse victims tolocal counseling program; and create a prevention-based education program in schools and policeprecincts. The police department and the county’s Department of Probation will continue tomake all visits and phone contacts with convicted offenders.

A Japan Airlines flight had to return to Honolulu after a 29 year old passenger,Michael Tanouye, sexually assaulted a female passenger in the airplane’s bathroom. Tanouyewas arrested for interfering with a flight crew and aggravated sexual assault aboard anaircraft. The flight was en route to Kasai International Airport when Tanouye forced his wayinto a bathroom and sexually assault a woman. The woman, who was returning home to Japan withher mother after a four-day vacation in Hawaii, went to use the restroom about an hour and 45minutes

Nassau County police are looking for a man who attempted to sexually assault a woman earlyWednesday in Westbury. Police have released a sketch of the suspect. The SpecialVictims Squad said a woman, 22, was walking on Post Avenue near Maple Avenue at about 12:40 am whenshe was approached by an unknown man who grabbed her from behind, causing her to fall to theground. The man attempted to sexually assault her, and an unidentified male witnessintervened, causing the subject to run east on Maple Avenue. The suspect is described

Rex Allen Murphy, a 30 year old teacher at Polly Ann Church of God in Eubank, Kentucky, wascharged Monday with sexual assault, sodomy and the use of a minor in a sexual performance. Heconfessed to sexually abusing one of his 16 year old students who he also allegedly threatened withblack magic.

Alfonso Marino, a 65 year old teacher, has been arrested on child porn charges after theDepartment of Homeland Security raided his Bellmore home this morning. Marino was asubstitute teacher at Flushing High School and lives in the home with his wife and daughter.
UPDATE: Marino apologized for his actions before he was sentenced to five years in prison onWednesday.
