Maxwell T. Sherman, 18, of Long Beach, sexually abused Lauren Daverin, 18, of Lynbrook,before he strangled her to death last month on a footbridge in Rockville Centre.  Shermanpleaded not guilty to the charges of murder in the second degree and sexual abuse in the firstdegree.

Umberto Stanco, a 79 year old Glen Cove man, was arrested Tuesday after he kept drivingalongside a 15 year old girl walking home from school Monday afternoon in Glen Cove and offered hermoney to get into his pickup truck.  When she turned him down, he followed her for a fewblocks and stopped twice in his vehicle.  Stanco is charged with endangering the welfare of achild, a misdemeanor, and first degree harassment, a violation.
