The prosecutor in the case of Mahamus Kanneh, a Liberian native charged with repeatedly raping and molesting a 7 year old girl, said Monday that he is filing an appeal of a controversial judge’s ruling that dismissed all charges because an interpreter who spoke the suspect’s rare West African dialect could not be found.  Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy called the ruling last Tuesday by Judge Katherine Savage improper, adding that his office has requested that an appeal be taken to reverse the court’s order.  Savage ruled on July

Terapon Dang Adhahn, a 42 year old convicted sex offender, was charged Monday with kidnapping,raping and killing 12-year-old Zina Linnik who was snatched away from an alley behind her family’shome during a July Fourth fireworks celebration. According to the charging documents, Adhahn ledinvestigators to her body and his DNA was found on her. She died from a blow to the head. The United Nations is investigating Moroccan peacekeepers suspected of sexually abusing girls younger than 18 in Ivory Coast and possibly leaving some of them pregnant.  As many as 100 girls may have been abused over the past several months.

Jeffrey Biglin, a 24 year old school coach and frequent substitute teacher in Connetquot district schools, was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.  Biglin was arrested after the parents of a female Connetquot High School student, troubled by their daughter’s suspicious phone bill, contacted police who then uncovered hundreds of sexually-explicit text messages between Biglin and the teenage girl.

Gian Nagpal, a 49 year old ice cream parlor owner, was arrested and charged with sexually abusing three teenage employees at his Huntington Station store.  Nagpal, of 75 Truxton Road, Dix Hills, the owner of Maggie Moo’s ice cream parlor at Walt Whitman Mall, was charged with third degree sexual abuse after a 17 year old employee complained that he had touched her inappropriately.  Investigators interviewed a 14 year old worker who said she too had been groped repeatedly by Nagpal between June 15 and July 9.  Detectives later interviewed
