Luis Flores, 15, allegedly raped an 18 year old co-ed on the Mount Pleasant campus of their school for troubled teens.  Flores, a Guatemalan native, was nabbed by cops Friday after police searched his dorm room at the Pleasantville Cottage School, a treatment center for troubled teenagers.  He threatened to set the woman on fire with a cigarette lighter unless she followed him into the nearby woods.  He was arrested and charged with first-degree rape.  In March, a 12 year old boy was accused of sexually assaulting another boy at

Lisa G. Bozeman, a 44 year old Pownal woman who may be facing criminal charges in Louisiana, has been released from prison on $1,000 bail after she was arrested for failing to comply with conditions from the Vermont sex offender registry.  Bozeman pleaded innocent to a misdemeanor charge of failing to comply with the registry on June 19.  Bozeman was convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in Louisiana in March 2003.  The crime is similar to the Vermont charge of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.  Her conviction

Steve R. Houck, a 52 year old registered sex offender who served a four-year prison sentence for distributing child pornography, was arrested this week on suspicion of telling an undercover detective online that he would pay for sex with a 10 year old girl.  Houck, of Fairfax, has been jailed since he was arrested on federal charges of attempting to arrange sexual activity with a minor online and distributing child pornography.

John Steven Burgess, a convicted sex offender, is identified as a person of interest in the disappearance of a female college student who met him on the Internet.  San Diego State University student Donna Jou, 19, was last seen June 23 at a party held at a Los Angeles home rented by Burgess.  Burgess, a registered sex offender, picked Jou up on a motorcycle earlier that day near her Rancho Santa Margarita home.  Burgess was convicted of three counts of battery in 2002 and of performing a lewd act against

The Texas Council on Sex Offender Treatment approved on Friday a system of additional tests to improve the classification of offenders who could be released from prison.  The psychological evaluations will help determine the risk an offender is to the community.  The state currently uses a risk test that looks at attributes such as age, gender, marital status and previous offenses.  Critics said the old test tends to penalize too sharply the young, low-level offenders while overlooking more dangerous offenders.

Profiles of 141 convicted New Jersey sex offenders are on the social networking Internet site MySpace.com, with more than half either on probation or parole.  The names of all 141 registered sex offenders were turned over to the state after the attorney general’s office issued a may 21 subpoena.  A second subpoena was served on June 29 seeking additional information from MySpace.com.
