As the State Assembly representative for the area where Sal Inghilleri kidnapped and brutally assaulted a nine year old girl, I am both shocked and outraged by his release from prison only seven years later.

While I am a strong supporter of the Megan’s Law Sex Offender Registry and applaud Judge Gazzillo’s decision to classify Inghilleri as a high-risk offender, I believe more could be done to keep these vicious predators off our streets.  I support an Assembly Republican proposal that would allow violent sex offenders to be involuntarily committed

The two teenage girls who were abducted by 37 year old Roy Dean Ratliff, tried to kill him while he slept by stabbing him and hitting him on the head with a whiskey bottle, according to one of the teens.  We got this plan we were going to try to kill him, Jacqueline Marris, 17, of Lancaster said.  Marris and 16 year old Tamara Brooks were abducted by Ratliff early Thursday from a remote area where they were parked with their dates.  According to Kern County Sheriff Carl Sparks, the

John Brunette, a 41 year old self-employed electrician, was arrested yesterday after he sent nude images of himself via the Internet to an investigator posing as a teenage girl.  He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on four counts of first-degree attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor.  He could be sentenced to up to 4 years in prison.

Members of the national advisory panel of lay Roman Catholics charged with overseeing how the nation’s bishops enact a new policy on clergy sex abuse agreed yesterday to hold a weekend retreat sometime in the future during which they would listen firsthand to survivors’ stories.

A complaint was made in 1999 to the Diocese of Rockville Centre by a former altar boy who said he had been sexually abused by a priest named Andrew Millar about eight years earlier, the boy was 10 years old. The diocese sent Millar for counseling to a treatment center in Maryland. He was allowed to retire when he returned in the fall of that year by he continued to conduct masses at St. Peter and Paul R.C. Church in Manorville. No one in the parish knew about the complaint,
