WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A bill passed the State House and Senate Thursday would extend the statute of limitations for child sex crime victims. Victims would now have until the age of 28 to file a civil lawsuit, up from the current cap of 21. NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) – In early September, Joseph Stephens took off before a Cleveland County jury found him guilty of two counts of forcible sodomy and one count of lewd acts with a child.

The jury recommended a 139-year sentence for Stephens. He was found a week later hiding with his wife in a hotel room, and Thursday, a judge agreed with the jury sentencing Stephens to the full 139 years in prison.

CULPEPER COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) – A Culpeper County man was arrested and charged with numerous sex crimes against children involving his foster kids, family members and others.
Michael Stephens, 53, was arrested after several sexual assault investigations in King George County in 2009 and in Culpeper County in 2018 involving male foster children that were placed with him and his wife.
