Portland law enforcement officials have announced the arrests of four people accused of taking part in a human sex-trafficking scheme involving a child.

Portland Police Bureau’s Human Trafficking Unit learned in July 2019 that a child was being “sold for sex” and, over the subsequent months, arrested four men, ages 19, 24, 51 and 51, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.

The office said it withheld all information about the case until this week’s announcement because there was still a warrant out for the arrest of one of the suspects.
But that changed on Monday, when U.S. Marshals tracked down 51-year-old Isaac Zapata in Portland and charged him with three counts each of purchasing sex with a minor, commercial sexual solicitation and sexual abuse in the second degree, officials said.
Zapata joins Malik Owens, Jeffrey Nicholas and, the youngest, Josiah Carmona, officials said.
Owens, 24, faces the most charges, with seven counts of compelling prostitution, 40 counts of promoting prostitution, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of tampering with a witness, according to officials.
Meanwhile, the two others have already pleaded guilty. As of August 2020, Nichols is serving 36 months of supervised probation after copping to charges of purchasing sex with a minor, attempted delivery of cocaine and commercial sexual solicitation.
The office would not provide any additional information about the case.
