James Bonfiglio, a 37 year old karate instructor who was arrested at his Ronkonkoma apartment in October 2007, is charged with committing a criminal sexual act, a felony, as well as misdemeanor sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.  He is accused of molesting a 13 year old student in July.  Bonfiglio, owner of Excel Karate Academy, pleaded not guilty and was held on $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond.  He was released from jail after posting bond.  Bonfiglio is also being investigated for secretly videotaping his students

Gary J. Ryan, a 37 year old upstate New York man, has been arrested in Nassau for attempting to send indecent materials to a child.  Ryan, of Mechanicville, north of Albany, sent indecent materials on five different occasions in September to a person he believed to be a 14 year old boy.  The police detective posing as the 14 year old received messages in which Ryan detailed various sexual acts he wanted to perform on the child.  He also tried to arrange to meet the posing detective to engage in

Jason Shrake, a 32 year old Tomah, Wisconsin man, was sentenced to more than 27 years inprison Thursday for sending child pornography videos to an undercover FBI agent.  Shrake wasgiven 330 months in prison and when he leaves prison he will be on supervised release for the restof his life.  He was convicted on by a jury on January 17 on charges of possessing anddistributing child pornography.

Three men in a black Pontiac with tinted windows approached a 16 year old girl in the parking lot of the Broadway Mall in Hicksville and tried to pull her into the car before she freed herself Thursday night.  One of them spoke to her, then grabbed her by the jacket and tried to drag her through the window.  Once the girl freed herself, she ran back inside the mall.  She sustained a minor injury to her arm in the struggle.  The men left the scene.  Police are asking for
