Last October, a 38 year old Moline man walked a few blocks home from a tavern, walked through his house and into a bedroom where his daughter and her 11 year old friend were sleeping in separate beds.  The man took off his clothes, got into bed with the 11 year old and put his hand up her shirt, touching her breasts and slept there all night.  Two weeks later the girl told her mother that she had been sexually molested and the police were called.  The man was arrested

William Fred Weekley, a 38 year old Florence man accused of sexually abusing a 10 year old girl, was arrested Friday afternoon after he was indicted by a Lauderdale County grand jury on first degree child abuse charges.  He was being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on Friday night with bail set at $100,000.  The victim is described as being one of Weekley’s distant relatives.

William Elliott, a 60-year-old former West Hempstead Boy Scout leader, was arrested and charged with 20 misdemeanor counts ranging from endangering the welfare of a child to second-degree sex abuse.  He is charged with molesting four boys in his troop during the past 14 months.

They ranged in age from 11 to 16 and were members of a troop in West Hempstead which is comprised of 33 Boy Scouts.  He pleaded not guilty and was released on $12,000 bail and is to appear in court February 6.

A Supreme Court ruled that keeping sexually violent predators confined after their prison terms expire does not automatically violate their constitutional rights.  In an 8-1 ruling in the case of a six time rapist in Washington State, a state’s failure to provide treatment required by law does not turn a lawful sex-predator’s confinement into unlawful punishment.

LaDonna Tucker, a 40-year-old woman who operates a day care center out of her home, was accusedof molesting little children in her care and offering them to her boyfriend sexually for $200. Shewas arrested after the boyfriend tipped police and let officers tape his phone conversations withher. According to court papers, she talked about performing oral sex on both male and femalechildren. Rene Escobar, a 20-year-old Westbury man, was arrested and charged with rape and kidnapping onSaturday. He was being held in Nassau County jail with no bail set on the kidnapping charges,meaning he cannot be released at least until after a court hearing Thursday. His relatives say itis a Long Island story of Romeo and Juliet. She and her relatives say it was a rape and akidnapping and he belongs in jail. Escobar is 20 and the girl is only 12. They had a yearlongsexual relationship according to his relatives. They
