Joseph Telford, from Darlington, abused three children during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Durham Police said his “harrowing” actions included one victim being abused at least 60 times during a four-year period and another for six years starting from the age of eight.

Telford was found guilty of 12 counts of indecent assault and six rapes.

His crimes came to light in 2017 when one of his victims reported what had happened to police, a force spokeswoman said.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Predators have taken advantage of kids’ increased screen time during the coronavirus pandemic, the Maryland State police said. Potential cases of child sexual exploitation have skyrocketed, the agency added.
Through Dec. 7, state police had received 5,433 tips notifying the agency of potential sex crimes against children. That’s up from the 3,248 reported in all of 2019.
About 80 percent of this year’s tips come from one of six jurisdictions. Those places are listed below with their 2019 and 2020 counts through November of each year.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — Eleven men, including a registered sex offender, have been arrested in an undercover operation targeting online predators in the Phoenix area.
Phoenix police and Chandler police partnered up to find online predators who were seeking to have sexual conduct with children and human trafficking.
Police said officers and undercover detectives placed ads on websites and apps commonly used by child sex suspects seeking illegal sex acts with children or finding adults/children for prostitution purposes between Nov. 30 and Dec. 4.

Citrus Heights police investigators on Thursday were looking for possible additional victims after two people were arrested in a sexual abuse case involving three children, ages 3 to 10 years old.
Robert Mitchell Mathis, 33, and Erin Nicole Mathis, 36, were arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of committing lewd acts with a child younger than 10 and possessing obscene materials, according to a news release from the Citrus Heights Police Department.
