Owed DNA from registered sex offenders already producing ‘hits’ in Washington

SEATTLE — The effort to end the rape kit backlog has been a focus for Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, whose office runs the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative.

Eight years ago, Washington had more than 10,000 untested rape kits.

“We had a number of kits sitting on shelves for a number of reasons,” state Representative Tina Orwall said in March.

Lawmakers like Orwall pushed for change, and progress has been made with thousands of kits tested, but there is still plenty of work to do.

Police: Bronx teacher arrested for touching 10-year-old girl’s breast

A Bronx teacher has been arrested on sex abuse and forcible touching charges, according to police.

Police say 48-year-old PS 70 teacher Norman Dunkley touched a 10-year-old girl’s breast and showed the girl, who is reportedly a student of Dunkley’s, a picture of a naked woman.

Officers add that three more girls have made allegations against Dunkley.

Midwood High School paraprofessional accused of child pornography, sextortion

A high school paraprofessional in Midwood has been charged with child pornography and sextortion, according to authorities.

Police say Brian Quinones worked as a paraprofessional at Midwood High School just months ago and was arrested Wednesday. At this time, there is no evidence showing that any students were victims, but it is reported Quinones enticed minors to send him sexually explicit videos on apps like WhatsApp and then threatened to publicly release them.

Midwood High School removed Quinones as an employer last October when they learned about the investigation.

Man Rapes Woman at Knifepoint in Bronx Elevator, Police Say

NEW YORK CITY — A man raped a woman at knifepoint in an apartment building elevator near the Bronx Zoo, police said.

Nashville officer, two teachers indicted on sex crimes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Metro police officer and two teachers have been indicted in an investigation regarding the sexual abuse of a teenager.

Metro police say officer Corey Reed, 31, a five-year MNPD veteran, surrendered at the Downtown Detention Center Wednesday afternoon on one count of sexual battery by an authority figure. Boone County man arrested in Illinois for sex crimes against a child

COLUMBIA, Mo. A Boone County man accused of sex crimes has been arrested in Illinois.

47-year-old James Bennett is booked into the Cook County Jail on Monday after being arrested at the Chicago O’Hare Airport on Monday.
