The four boys convicted of sexually assaulting a 14 year old girl and her 12 year old sisterwill undergo a three-phase treatment program while attending school and sports camps at upstatejuvenile facilities as they begin to serve out the 18-month sentences given them by a RocklandCounty judge Friday.  The 13-year-olds will likely be sent to separate facilities far fromtheir homes.  All four boys were convicted on felony charges of attempted rape, sex abuse,criminal sex act and criminal sexual conduct, while one was also convicted on a first degree rapecharge

Leonel Contreras, a 17 year old who faces multiple life terms in state prison after beingconvicted on Friday of kidnapping and raping two teenage girls in a Rancho Penasquitos, Californiapark, was tried as an adult and will be sentenced December 5.  One of the victims told thejury that she and the other victim were attacked by Contreras and his co-defendant, William StevenRodriguez, under a tree as they walked  from a family party on September 3, 2011.  Theywere taken up a slope and into a dark grassy area.  She said

Michael Chemick, a 23 year old Woodmere man, was arrested Wednesday after he tried to lureteenage girls into his car in separate instances, exposing himself one time and stalking a victimanother time.  He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on charges of attempted luring of achild, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and third degree stalking.

Kevin O’Connell, the 51 year old Roosevelt school district official facing federal chargesof receiving child pornography, is effectively prohibited from reporting to work and will notreceive pay during his absence.  O’Connell was arrested when federal agents executed a searchwarrant after they traced an Internet address advertising three video files available for sharingto his home.  Examination of computer equipment in his home confirmed the presence of numerousvideos of apparent child pornography.
