DECADES OF ALLEGED CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE ENDS WITH A 17-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE

BRAZOS COUNTY, TX — A man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison on two counts of sexual assault of a child.
54 year-old, Albert Hernandez, pleaded guilty and waived his appeal as a part of his plea agreement. He was facing a maximum possible sentence of 20 years.
On Sept 27, 2017, a 15-year-old girl reported to her mother that an acquaintance of the family had touched her inappropriately. The teen then identified Hernandez as her abuser.

4 IN NORTHERN MICHIGAN CHARGED WITH SEX CRIMES WITH 2 GIRLS UNDER 13

Four people in Crawford County face charges of criminal sexual conduct with two victims under 13, Michigan State Police said.
The four suspects all hail from Roscommon, and range from 21 to 62 years old.
State police arrested three of the suspects in March while executing a search warrant at a Crawford County home.
The Houghton Lake post was investigating claims of criminal sexual conduct and child sexually abusive material at the home. The fourth suspect was arrested a time later.

HARRISBURG — A key state Senate committee on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved legislation to temporarily allow survivors of decades-old child sexual abuse to sue the perpetrators, an alternative path to justice after a Wolf administration error derailed a previous effort.

The 11-3 vote by the Judiciary Committee positions the bill for a historic floor debate as early as next week, a win for survivors and their advocates who have been pushing for it since the child sexual-abuse cover-up scandal that enveloped the Catholic Church in the early 2000s.

AWaco man has charged with continuous sexual abuse of a young child, based on incidents in 2018 through 2019.
According to an affidavit, Terence Pecina, 26, was arrested April 7 after an investigation found he had committed two or more acts of sexual abuse against a child younger than 14 years from July 2018 to April 2019.

NEW BILL PROPOSES SEXUAL ABUSE PREVENTION FOR SCHOOLS

A bipartisan bill seeks to mandate child sexual abuse and sexual violence prevention education in Ohio schools.
The bill was introduced this week, and requires “age-appropriate instruction” in child sexual abuse prevention for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The education would include resources and available counseling for children who are sexually abused.
For grades seven through 12, sexual violence prevention education would be implemented. Education would be provided for teachers and staff as part of in-service training.
