New Jersey’s Megan’s Law notifications were stopped by a federal appeals court that finds that the release of sex offenders’ home addresses violated their constitutional rights.  New York’s version of Megan’s Law remains unaffected by the ruling.  Unfortunately, to find out about New York State’s worst offenders will cost you $5 for a phone call to a 900-telephone number or you have to go to police headquarters in Manhattan.  The state does not make it easy to find out where registered sex offenders live.  A nonprofit parents’ group called Parents

COPS: MAN RAN TEEN INTERNET SEX SERVICE

Francis E. Brazell, 29, has been charged by police with operating an Internet escort service employing underage girls.  The Philadelphia man was arraigned yesterday on charges of prostitution and related offenses, criminal conspiracy and corruption of minors.  An investigation into area escort services led authorities to Robin’s Nest Escort Service.  They advertise the services of male and female escorts, claiming all the escorts are of legal age, on a Web site.  Two undercover state troopers called the service April 12th, and were directed to it Web site TheNest4you.com.  A meeting

MAN GETS 936 YEARS FOR HALLOWEEN RAPE

A 12 year old girl who had just arrived home from collecting Halloween candy was taken at gunpoint from the Pomona mobile home park where she lived wtih her mother and we sexually assaulted repeatedly over a six to eight hour period.  The man, William Robert Riley, 40, of West Covina, was sentenced to 936 years to life in prison.  He was convicted last month of 17 counts, including lewd acts with a child, kidnapping and making terroristic threats.  Riley had only been out of prison five days when he

ADOPTIVE DAD KILLS SELF BEFORE SEX ABUSE TRIAL

Thomas Cusik, 47, a songwriter accused of 33 counts of molesting his adopted children, has committed suicide.  He left behind an audiotape and suicide note in a hotel where he checked in under the name Henry Amoroso.  Cusik had opened his home over the past 20 years to dozens of orphan boys.  A pretrial on charges that he molested seven of his adopted sons was scheduled for Wednesday in which he was scheduled to appear in Bucks County Court.  His trial was to begin April 26th.  Cusik’s body was found

MEGAN’S LIST ONLINE (Local group posts high-risk sex offenders on a Web site)

Parents for Megan’s Law, a private group, posted New York State’s public list of high-risk sexoffenders and their address, physical description, type of offense, sentence length, aliases andvehicle information on the Internet yesterday. They say the government has lagged in making theinformation easily available to citizens. Laura Ahearn, executive director of Parents for Megan’sLaw said, It’s atrocious.
