Anthony Carroll, 28, has been charged with abducting a 15 year old Mackenzie High School student last week. The girl was waiting at a bus stop when Carroll allegedly ordered her into his car and drove away. He fondled her and exposed himself according to police reports. The girl was released and told school officials. Prosecutors also charged him after his arrest with attempted abduction of a 19 year old woman on October 31.

Palestinian police said on Tuesday, they had handed over Hisham Najem, a Palestinian suspected by Israel of involvement in the rape and murder of a child in Nazareth, an Israeli town with a large Arab population, six months ago. It was the first time a Palestinian was handed to Israel since self-rule began. It was done in a joint cooperation to fight crime, said Palestinian Police Chief Ghazi al-Jabali.
The Supreme Court of Canada has begun hearing a two-day appeal of a 66 year old Robin Sharpe’s acquittal for possessing child pornography.
He was charged under the criminal code in 1995 after police and customs agents seized photos of nude boys and collections of lewd short stories he had written.
Livono Guerrero, 25, is charged with rape, sodomy and third degree aggravated sexual abuse. A 16 year old girl, reported missing since September 4th, 1999 by her mother said she had been raped repeatedly by Guerrero who is her former boyfriend. He allegedly forced her to stay in his Bronx apartment under threats to her life and her family, authorities said. In direct response to a series of media reports that exposed the departments practice of downgrading sexual assault complaints during the 1980’s to mid 1990’s, Police Commissioner John F. Timoney assigned 45 new detectives to the special victims unit to aid in the reinvestigation of large numbers of unsolved sex crimes. Thousands of reported sex offenses that had been buried by the sex crimes unit to make crime statistics appear lower, authorities said today. Cpl. Jim Pauley said Timoney’s intent is to restore public confidence in the department.
