Thomas Savastano, a third grade teacher at Helen B. Duffield Elementary School was convicted of molesting a former student.  The victim’s mother told a Suffolk Court judge that Savastano should be sent to prison so he can’t molest other little girls.  She said, He is not only a pedophile, he is a master of manipulation, he duped his colleagues, it is no wonder he could dupe a child. Cyril Samuels, a father of three and a care worker at a South Wales children’s home was arrested and jailed for seven years for 15 sex attacks.

Mark John Christie abducted and strangled 4 year old Kali Ann Poulton on May 23rd, 1994.  Fearing for his safety in prison, Mr. Christie wanted to change his name and this outraged residents.  He doesn’t want to be branded a child killer, but frankly, that’s part of the punishment, he has to live with the stigma and humiliation that goes with it for the rest of his life, just like I have to live without my daughter for the rest of my life, said Kali’s mother, Judy Tosh.  State Senator

St. John’s Cathedral Boys School in Selkirk, a school that closed nine years ago because of declining enrollment, is under investigation for sexual abuse. A former teacher is being investigated for sexually abusing as many as seven students during the 1982-83 school year.  At the time of the alleged abuse the school chose to fire the teacher and not contact authorities.  Another accusation of sexual abuse is that in 1989, a guest lecturer was accused of abusing students, but charges were dismissed.

Twelve people in their homes were attacked by a sexual predator, many while they were sleeping in their beds.  All of the attacks have been confined to one neighborhood, eight of the attacks were sexual assaults.  The victims ages range from 9 to 75.  Police called a community meeting to allay fears and offer advise.  Next week they are expected to offer a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the man.

There is the same persistent complaint from inmates accused of sex crimes, their uniforms areoutsized. The uniforms are baggy with too long arms and legs, and then everyone would know whatthey were charged with. Other inmates would beat them up and they would get beaten up by guards.Wearing a large uniform labels you as a rapist or a child abuser, according to inmates.
