Erick Rodriguez, 43, was convicted in abstentia of attempted rape, sodomy, sexual abuse and incest. He sexually assaulted his 10 year old daughter almost nightly for eight months. He has been captured in Arizona and will return to New York to serve his sentence. Rodriguez was free on only $10,000 bail when he skipped town in the middle of his trial. He got the maximum sentence, a possible 61 years in prison.
A 15-year-old camp counselor in training at a camp in Freehold New Jersey was charged with the aggravated sexual assault of an 8-year-old boy. He is accused of sodomizing the boy at least 5 times at the Briar Hill Camp.
Jesse Timmendequas, 38, was convicted of luring 7 year old Megan Kanka into his home and raping and strangling her in 1994. The twice convicted sex offender lived across the street from the Kanka’s in quiet Hamilton Township. No one had any idea of his past. Joseph Martin, a 27-year-old married father of two from Sound Beach told his wife, Jennifer that he was taking a troubled young girl into their home. He was arrested Friday at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, where he had gone to pick up a 12 year old girl, known only as Jane Doe of Columbus, Ohio. Martin was remanded to Columbus, Ohio, yesterday to face federal charges that he used the Internet to try to lure the girl to him home for sex. He sent the girl $81
