The Rev. James Braunius, a 37 year old youth minister, has been charged with having child pornography on his office computer at New Life Ministries in Midland Park, New Jersey. He faces a fourth degree possession charge, the lowest level of felony.

Kevin Green, a 45 year old veteran city cop, was charged October 10, 2002, with possession of child pornography. Green, who is assigned to the 45th Precinct in the Bronx and has been with the NYPD for 18 years, has been suspended from the force without pay. Investigators executed a search warrant at Green’s home on Lakewood Avenue, in Jamaica, Queens seizing 10 videotapes and 10 compact discs depicting children engaged in sexual activity with adults and other children. Green was released on $100,000 bond after his arraignment.

James Teal, 38, of 553 Larkfield Rd, East Northport, was arrested and charged with sodomizing a 6 year old boy after drugging him with sleeping medication. He also plotted with Donald Sparling, 50, of 358 E. Manhasset St., Islip, to lure a 13 year old Wisconsin girl to New York to be used as a sex slave. The House approved a package of child protection legislation April 10 that would create a national Amber Alert child kidnapping notification network and strengthen the nation’s child pornography laws. The House voted 400-25 for a compromise crafted by a House-Senate negotiating committee that would institute the national child kidnapping network urged by the family of Elizabeth Smart.

William Ryerson, a 44 year old former county corrections officer, has pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge and faces up to 15 years in state prison. He pleaded guilty to one count of use of a child in a sexual performance. He was arrested in March 2002 for photographing and having sexual contact with two girls, ages 11 and 15, and keeping the images on his computer. He remains free on $15,000 bail and sentencing has been set for May 27.

Russel Hardin, a 38 year old former Giuliani administration official, had child pornography charges leveled against him in an indictment that also accuses him of funding a virtual Roman holiday with tax dollars.
