Shawn Trent, a 16 year old Riverhead teenager, was arraigned yesterday on charges that he raped a European student who had arrived in the United States just five days earlier.  He pleaded not guilty to a charge of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse and was held on $100,000 cash bail.  If Trent, who is being charged as a adult, is convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.

According to police reports and a lawsuit recently filed in Bronx Supreme Court, a Bronx boy who resides at the Lake Grove School for emotionally disturbed children was raped by a 17 year old classmate.  The boy, who was 12 at the time, was sodomized and beaten in one of the school’s bathrooms on the night of January 31, 2003.  The 17 year old was arrested on charges of sexual misconduct on the day of the incident and was tried as a juvenile.

Five member of the boys varsity hockey team at the elite Milton Academy in Massachusetts have been expelled for allegedly engaging in locker-room sex acts with a 15 year old female student.  The boys are two juniors and three sophomores.  The five players were kicked out of school Friday morning.  The girl, a sophomore, was sent home on an indefinite leave.  Chief Kevin Mearny said it was too early to tell if the boys, who range from 16 to 18 years old, will be charged with a crime.  Under Massachusetts

Under a new bill being considered by state lawmakers, police could alert neighbors if a juvenile sex offender lives nearby.  Currently, a sex offender registry listing adults is available online.  A separate list that is not available to the public does exist for juveniles.  Representative Joe Parisi explains, What this bill is saying and what I believe is that sex offenses do need to be looked at differently.  Even if you’re dealing with juveniles because people do need to know if a sexually violent and dangerous person is moving in

A 12 year old boy has been charged with sexually assaulting a 4 year old girl in a Milwaukee YMCA.  The girl said the boy hit and kicked her, pulled at her pants and choked her with her scarf.  The boy faces charges of sexual assault and exposing his genitals.  A delinquency petition filed yesterday said a manager looked at a security monitor Saturday and saw the assault.
