Ronald L. Rivera, a 34 year old Mastic Beach man, known as Captain Ron in Internet chat rooms, and charged with having video recordings of children performing sexual acts, may have gone to North Dakota to have sex with a 13 year old boy.  River, of 70 Knapp Road, may have been chatting extensively online with children and is suspected of traveling to Fargo, North Dakota.  He used the screen name banditcapt71@aol.com.  He was arraigned on June 15 and is being held in the Suffolk County Jail on $50,000 bail.

Ovidio Francisco-Gonzalez, a 24 year old Flanders man, was arrested and charged with rape after the 14 year old girl from Guatemala that he was entrusted with caring for was pregnant by him.  He was arraigned yesterday in Southampton Town Court on a charge of second degree rape, a felony punishable by up to 7 years in prison, as well as a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.  He was released on $5,00 bail.

Kyle Sabo, a 25 year old Levittown high school teacher, was arrested on June 22 on charges of rape and other criminal sexual acts involving two high school teenagers, a boy and a girl, both younger than 17.  Sabo, who had taught social studies at his alma mater, Division Avenue High School, is charged with third degree rape and three counts of third degree criminal sexual acts.  He was arrested because he told another 17 year old lover about his exploits.  He would prey on students who came to him

Terrence Schouenborg, a 41 year old Massapequa man convicted of molesting a 13 year old girl whom he lured into his car from a Copiague park, was sentenced in a Riverhead court yesterday to 22 years to life in prison.  He was convicted in January on 11 separate charges, including sodomy and sexual abuse, for the September 2003 attack.  Because Schouenborg has numerous criminal convictions, including for sexually assaulting and beating a 58 year old woman and trying to set his brother and father on fire, he was eligible for

William Cronin, a 48 year old Lake Grove man, was sentenced to 21 years in prison yesterday formolesting a young girl. The legal system failed when the jury found him guilty because he shouldhave been found guilty of molesting two young girls. Cronin was convicted in December of engagingin a course of sexual conduct with and sodomizing a 9 year old girl. The Riverhead jury, however,acquitted him on charges that he sexually abused the girl’s older sister, who was under 15.

Parents will soon be able to have their kids photographed and fingerprinted as part of a new state initiative to develop special identification cards designed to help find missing children.  Governor Pataki announced the new voluntary program yesterday, saying the Safe Child ID Cards would give law-enforcement an immediate leg up when a child goes missing by providing crucial identifying information.
