Chris Ortloff, a 61 year old state parole board member who served 20 years in theLegislature, appeared in court yesterday on a federal charge that he used the Internet to solicitsex with minors.  Ortloff was arrested in a state police sting at a motel in Albany, herepeatedly emailed  what he believed to be 11 and 12 year old sisters since June and tried toarrange a meeting to have sex with them.  He could face 10 years to life in prison and a$250,000 fine if convicted.

Social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook can now trace and expel potentialsexual predators under a new law requiring sex offenders to submit all identifying Internetinformation along with home address.  Under the law, signed yesterday by President George W.Bush, registered sex offenders must submit all email addresses, instant messenger names or otheronline identifiers for inclusion into the National Sex Offender Registry.

Darryl Littlejohn, a 43 year old ex-con accused of raping and killing a graduate student andattempting to kidnap another co-ed, started his career in crime mugging a 70 year old woman when hewas just 12 years old.  Littlejohn, a bouncer, had been free for only seven of the last 27years.  He is being tried for allegedly abducting a 19 year old York College student inOctober 2005 and then will be tried in Brooklyn for the 2006 death of Imette St.Guillen.

Alan Goodman, a 43 year old Queens elementary school science teacher, has been arrested forallegedly buying kiddie porn online – including sexually explicit videos of girls as young as theones her taught.  Goodman, who teaches at PS 103 in Jamaica, was arrested on September 22 andreleased yesterday on $200,000 bail.  His name surfaced as a subscriber to a kiddie-porn Website, his Little Neck home was searched and the feds seized videos of little girls and photos ofhim with young females in the Dominican Republic and elsewhere.

The House of Representatives Friday passed a bill that cracks down on Internetchild pornography.  The bill expands the range of companies that must report Internet childpornography to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in Alexandria,Virginia.  The House approved the bill, sponsored by Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) andSenator Joseph Biden (D-Del), in a 226-192 vote.  The Senate approved it unanimously Thursdaynight.
