Proposed state legislation would enable prospective homebuyers or renters to find out about potentially dangerous sex offenders living in the neighborhood.  Laura Ahearn, executive director of Parents for Megan’s Law, a community based organization that works to ensure proper enforcement of the state sex offender notification law, said the bill would amend New York’s Real Property Law to require real estate agents and landlords to inform potential buyers and renters about subdirectories that provide specific information about high risk sex offenders living in their area.  Buyers and renters will receive

Daniel Dequoy, 32, a nursing home employee was arraigned today for allegedly raping a 96 year old woman who lives at the home.  Dequoy was charged with aggravated felonious sexual assault in connection with the rape of a resident of the Integrated Health Services of New Hampshire.  The nursing assistant faces a maximum of 7 1/2 to 15 years in prison.  Dequoy was ordered held in the Hillsborough County Jail on $10,000 bail.  His next court appearance is scheduled for March 21st.

Rodolfo Beach, 31, of Rosedale was charged late Friday in three attacks in Queens after his DNA was recovered from a knife he was stabbed with in November and linked him to two of the crimes.  Beach was arraigned on charges of rape, attempted rape, sodomy and robbery.  A 12-year-old girl awoke early one morning to see Beach by her bed, opening his pants.  When the girl’s uncle heard her screams, he responded and stabbed Beach in the torso with a knife.  The DNA samples were collected from blood on

Reverend Carl A. Schipper, 57, a Menlo Park priest has been arrested on charges which may be related to child pornography and sexual abuse.  He is suspected of child sexual abuse and solicitation of sex with minors using the Internet.  He was arrested in Sonoma County and transferred to the custody of police in San Jose.

A 15-year-old Trumbull High School wrestler was allegedly hogtied, pushed into a wall, stuffed inside a locker and held down white teammates forced the handle of a plastic knife into his rectum.  Two other boys were allegedly hogtied with trainer’s tape.  One was thrown into the shower, while the other was covered in garbage.  Eight member of the 15-member team have been arrested, three of them as adults on assault and conspiracy charges that could bring them, in some cases, more than five years in prison.  Charged as adults are

Colonel Ahmed Atyah Abu Mustafa, 48, was arrested Wednesday after a 6 year old boy identified him as the man who had kidnapped and raped him five days earlier.  A firing squad executed him overnight just hours after he was convicted and sentenced to death.  He denied the charges.  Several Palestinian Authority officials and members of the legislative council as well as relatives of the raped child attended the execution.
