ABILENE, Texas — A Taylor County grand jury indicted nine men accused of child sex crimes.

Virgil Lynn Perkins – online solicitation of a minor.

According to the indictment, on March 3, Perkins, 66, of Abilene, met who he thought was a 16-year-old girl on an app called “Whisper.”

He told the undercover officer “U could get me in jail lol.”

Perkins told the girl he could come over and watch her shower or she could come to his house and shower.

A Sutherlin man was arrested Thursday and accused of sexually abusing a young girl for multiple years, according to the Sutherlin Police Department.

In February, police received a report that Cory Lee Bernhardt, 35, had been repeatedly abusing a young girl who he knew personally. During the ensuing investigation, detectives determined that Bernhardt could have started sexually abusing the young girl between 2015 and 2018, when the victim was between the ages of 4 and 7, according to court documents.

A former USA Gymnastics women’s coach has been arrested in Las Vegas and charged with multiple counts of lewdness with a minor, authorities said.

Terry Gray, 52, was arrested Friday by sex crimes detectives, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said. He had been suspended from gymnastics in 2019

Gray coached gymnastics in Las Vegas from 2009 to 2015. He also coached at prestigious gyms in Southern California and Ohio, according to the Orange County Register.
