Researchers estimate that as many as one in three women have been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in their lifetime, based on worldwide statistics.  Co-author Dr. Mary Ellsberg of the Center for Health & Gender Equity in Takoma Park, Maryland, told Reuters Health, Contrary to what most people think, that most violence against women takes place in dark alleys within strangers, that’s not the case.  Women are most at risk from people they know, their family members, their spouses, their friends.

Terry Rhea, a 37 year old man, has been arrested and is accused of sexually abusing an 11 yearold boy he allegedly lured to his house with homemade skateboarding ramps and an all-terrainvehicle. He faces a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Police are seeking information onany other possible victims. Rhea was taken into custody shortly after 5 am Monday, he was able topost the required 10% of his $10,000 bond and was released from the Winnebago County jail.

Anthony Carroll, 28, has been charged with abducting a 15 year old Mackenzie High School student last week.  The girl was waiting at a bus stop when Carroll allegedly ordered her into his car and drove away.  He fondled her and exposed himself according to police reports.  The girl was released and told school officials.  Prosecutors also charged him after his arrest with attempted abduction of a 19 year old woman on October 31.
