William Musella, a 41-year-old door-to-door pill salesman, was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree sexual abuse for allegedly fondling a 12 year old girl in Dix Hills in February. He works for a Connecticut-based company and tried to sell his line of products to the girls family but the family did not buy anything. Fifty men from the city’s religious, professional and business establishments were found by CBS Radio News who say they were victims of a pedophile ring in Cornwall, Ontario. The men claim they were abused by about 20 people. The ring has been preying on boys for more than 40 years. Contrary to popular impressions, most of the country’s oldest prisoners aren’t multiple murderers serving life sentences for heinous crimes committed in their youth. Often, the very oldest are sex offenders imprisoned relatively recently and considered too dangerous to parole. More than a quarter of Ohio’s older prisoners are sex offenders. In Wisconsin, the total runs to 30%. The federal Bureau of Justice Statistics found that released rapists were more than ten times as likely as ex-cons charged with other crimes to be rearrested for rape, according to a 1997 study.
After 13 years, DNA evidence convicted a man of raping and murdering an 11 year old Alison Parrott. The semen in her body matched with 41 year old Francis Roy. He faces a life sentence with no parole eligibility for 25 years.
