Experts say that showing sex offender mug shots to children may not have much practical value.  They agree with Schools Chancellor Rudy Crew’s decision to forbid posting photographs of sex offenders in school hallways.  They say that research shows that to recognize a person through a photo lineup is very inconsistent and as an adult, you probably cannot memorize the faces on wanted pictures in the post office.  So, they feel it will be less effective for youngsters.

Jeremy Strohmeyer, 19, changed his plea to guilty at the last minute yesterday to raping and strangling a 7 year old girl in a casino bathroom, to avoid the death penalty.  Under a plea bargain struck just before opening statements, were to have begun, he will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the murder of Sherrice Iverson in the Primmadonna Casino in May 1997.  Strohmeyer said he kidnapped, molested and strangled Sherrice.  The decision to seek a plea bargain was reached Friday, when prosecutors said they had

Osei Banfor Alexander Kissi, the pastor of the New Life Christian Center is alleged to have repeatedly attacked a 12 year old church summer school student this month.  The girl told her parents that he raped and sexually abused her six times between August 3rd and August 19th and they took her to th 47th Precinct.  Kissi has been charged with first degree rape, sexual abuse and endagering the welfare of a child.
