A 47 year old woman was found guilty of carrying on an extended sexual affair with her daughter’s 15 year old boyfriend. She would show up at his school, sometimes dressed in a black evening dress and pose as his mother to get him out of classes for medical appointments. Rebecca Ann Schroeder, 28, was sentenced Friday to 12 months in jail, a year on an electronic tether under house arrest and five years probation for engaging in sexual intercourse with a 13 year old boy. Harry Velasquez, 28, a police officer, was convicted yesterday of raping and sodomizing a 12 year old girl. Velasquez, who tutored the girl for a year was found guilty of rape, sex abuse, sodomy and endangering the welfare of a child during two instances in his Richmond Hill home during July 1996. The girl alleged that sexual incidents occurred from July 1996 to June 1997.

Julio Smith, 38, who was on parole for prior sex offenses has been arrested again for allegedlysodomizing two children, a 10 year old girl in February and a 9 year old boy in December. TheBrooklyn man, a registered sex offender, is charged with sodomy, rape, sexual abuse and endangeringthe welfare of a child.

According to state-run Saudi television, two men were convicted and executed for abducting a boy and committing obscene acts with him. Saudi Arabia applies strict Islamic sharia law by publicly beheading convicted murders, rapists, drug smugglers and other criminals. There have been eleven executions in the kingdom so far this year. Approximately 125 people were executed last year, mostly for murder or drug smuggling.

Joseph Keith Symons, the 65 year old Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pal Beach, resignedtoday after admitting that he sexually molested five boys early in his 40 year career as a priest.He left the diocese for evaluation and treatment at an undisclosed location.
