A scathing grand jury report exposes priests in the Diocese of Rockville Centre as serial child molesters instead of prayerful do-gooders, said Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota. He said, In many instances, these priests first introduced these children to pornographic movies and alcohol as a means of entrapping them in a sexually abusive relationship. Many of the crimes were committed in rectories, and in one instance the sacristy of a church.

Benjamin Simmons, a 42 year old Uniondale man awaiting trial on rape charges, tried to have a key witness killed, believing doing so would free him from jail. He detailed his plans to an undercover detective who posed as a hit man, saying he wanted the mother of his victim, who was his live-in girlfriend, murdered. Jamie Greenberg, a 30 year old Seaford man, was arrested yesterday for passing himself off as a police officer to take advantage of an underage female. Greenberg, of 2569 South Seamans Neck Road, approached a parked car in which an unidentified young couple was kissing. He knocked on the window, identified himself as a police officer and threatened an arrest. James Taylor, 33, also known as Bishop J. Andre Taylor and Rasta Wright, a 25 year old church elder, were arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a 14 year old homeless child left in their care by a church member. The two pastors run a Pentecostal church in Central Islip. Taylor, of 77 Adams Road, Apt. 2-D in Central Islip, was charged with second degree sodomy and second degree sexual abuse.
