Newsday/Gary Dymski 5/2/14 East Hampton Town police are investigating the report of a man driving a white care whoasked a 13 year old boy on Thursday if he needed a ride home from school.  The Springs Schoolstudent was approached while walking on Springs Fireplace Road after getting off his school bus atabout 3:30 pm.  The man, heavyset and shirtless with grey hair and a mustached, was driving awhite sedan and asked several times if the boy needed a ridge home.  The student answered nobut the man kept asking before driving

Newsday/Gary Dymski 4/23/14 Vincent Sparagano, the 44 year old former director in a Lindenhurst community theater group,The Spotlight Players, was convicted Tuesday of possessing child pornography.  Sparagano, of530 South Ninth Street, Lindenhurst, was found guilty in a jury trial of four felony counts ofpossessing a sexual performance by a child.  He was found not guilty of four felony counts ofpromoting a sexual performance by a child.  Sparagano faces up to 1 1/13 years to 4 years inprison on each count, which could run consecutive because of his possession of four

Jean Almonacy, a 55 year old Department of Motor Vehicles employee from Hempstead, pleadedguilty Tuesday to fondling a woman as he gave her a road test.  As part of a plea deal, he isscheduled to be sentenced to six years’ probation under sex offender conditions when hereturns to court.

Newsday.com/ Mackenzie Issler 8/10/14 Dante Taylor, a 19 year old ex-Marine from Mastic, is charged with the murder of Sarah P.Goode, a 21 year old single mother whose body was found near her Medford home.  Goode, themother of a 4 year old girl, was raped, stabbed and beaten to death on June 7.  The brutalattack started in her car and ended in the nearby woods, not far from her home, where her body wasfound by volunteers.  Suffolk County homicide detectives couldn’t crack the murder caseuntil Nicole Lukas heard about Sarah

SeanMichael Pagano, a 37 year old longtime New York State Police investigator stationed onLong Island who also was recently hired as assistant lacrosse coach in the Rocky Point schooldistrict, was arrested by the FBI Thursday on child pornography charges.  His attorney said hewas not guilty of the charges of accessing child pornography.  Pagano, of Mount Sinai, whoseState Police position is the equivalent of being a detective, was held without bail as a danger tothe community faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
