Rudy Giuliani plans to keep Msgr. Alan Placa, a priest suspended by the church in a child sex scandal, on his payroll.  Giuliani’s show of loyalty to his childhood friend came in the face of a call from the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests for him to fire Placa from his security consulting business.  Placa has denied allegations in a 2003 Suffolk County grand jury report that detailed abuses by priests in the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

Michael Manuel, a 21 year old convicted child molester, was selling magazine subscriptionsdoor-to-door in Long Beach when he was arrested as a fugitive, wanted in Missouri for violating hisparole. Manuel pleaded guilty in St. Louis in 2004 to molesting a 6 year old girl, and he wassentenced to 5 years in prison.

Michael J. Fitzgibbon, a 37 year old man who police said entered into a sex pact with his girlfriend and her 15 year old daughter, pleaded no contest to felony sex charges. He pleaded no contest to more serious sex charges involving acts with a 12 year old girl, a relative.  Fitzgibbon’s girlfriend was afraid of losing him while she recuperating from gastric bypass surgery, so she arranged for him to have sex with her daughter for two months.  He faces sentencing for the six counts of criminal sexual conduct
